Our farm is located along the Smoky Hill River west of Pfeifer, KS which is 20 miles SE of Hays, Kansas. This is where we enjoy raising dairy goats for milk and show as well as the great milk and milk products they produce. The goats keep us busy with everyday care, and shows.

Shepherd's Gate is our registered herd and farm name. We chose that name to remind us of whom our true shepherd is, Jesus Christ, who offers us the only way to heaven. “I am the gate, if anyone enters by me, he will go in and out and find pasture.” John 10:9

Shepherd's Gate specializes in the LaMancha breed and we continue in our efforts to raise high quality stock. We have a great selection of LaMancha kids and does to choose from if you are looking for something to add to your herd.

We got our first goat in 1992 for milk. We wanted our own source of milk, and a cow was not an option because of their size. So we bought our first goat, a grade Alpine. We bred her and, in return, our herd multiplied.

Our son Roger wanted Nubians, so we bought a few animals, but when Roger turned 16, he lost interest in the goats. The rest of us wanted to raise just LaMancha's. We have since acquired a couple new Nubians again.

Sarah B's Alpine herd was started in 2000 in memory of our 11 year old daughter who went to heaven to be with Jesus in November of 1999. She loved Alpines and had just started raising her own herd. We are carrying on her wishes to have her own Alpine herd. All proceeds from Sarah B's Alpines will be donated to missions work to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Visit her memorial page to find out more.

We raise our kids on a strict CAE prevention program. All our animals are wormed and vaccinated regularly. We keep milking records as well as birthing records on all our animals.

Cheese, wonderful cheese!

What to do with all that milk?  Make cheese!  We make a variety of very delicious cheeses that are healthy and natural.

With many good milking goats, we have lots of milk!  The best natural drink you can have!

We also make soap, lotion, and skin cream out of milk which is a natural moisturizer and very good for the skin!

Our new Maremma pup.  These are the best dogs for herd protection!
